Job Description

• DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
  
  • To provide accurate, professional medical interpretation for LEP (limited English Proficiency) patients at BMC and affiliated outpatient services.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
  
  • Experience:
    
    • Two years preferred, interpreting for people with limited English proficiency, in offical or unofficial capacity. Can include medical, legal or business translation.
  • Education and Training:
    
    • High school diploma required, some college preferred.
    • Area Health Education Center Medical Interpreter Training Program course or equivalent.
  • License, Certification & Registration:
    
    • CMI or CHI certification preferred.
  • Other Requirements:
    
    • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and ability to be on-call, understand role and boundaries of an interpreter. Strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
